Just who do the folks in Redmond think they are, the bloody Sherriff of Nottingham? Psychologically and socially, you must realize that there would have been no popular support for mythical characters such as Robin Hood (William Wallace?) had taxation not been oppressive.
Agreeing to a license that taxes computers on which an OS is not installed is like charging sales tax on bed sheets just because someone owns a bed. It certainly is no incentive to purchase software upon which such licenses have force. In fact, it is cause for a revolt against any such company that has forgotten that the customer dictates, not the vendor.
In fact, truth be known ... isn't behavior (such as is indicated in this new "license") actually quite terroristic? Maintain fear, isn't that what they are doing? I am a former Marine and know that you can not negotiate with terrorists ...
