Al;

LOL! Hurray! Old techniques still work! Glad it solved the problem! :)

Something I learned when I was very young - try the easiest solution first. Next go for the percentages based upon your experience. I know guys that would either rebuild the computer or re write the application. They do this without thinking as his/her thought process has "tunnel vision"! Action - reaction - but not the correct coarse of action in any case.

When I was a teenager working in the electronic industry I would watch the old timers at work. They were so cool! I learned a great deal from them. When it was my turn to do something I was successful and had many top engineers ask, “Where did you learn that”? I always gave credit to the people who were expert. Perhaps that is one reason why I like to teach and assist others. I owe so much to all those I have learned from.

>>Hi Al,
>>We have about 50 users that are running MFOXPRUN-based FoxBASE+ apps under XP without any problems. Sorry I cannot help you on this one. We did nothing special in XP itself to make them work. Here is our config.fp (the command line in the icon points to it) just in case it helps:
>>
>>BELL=OFF
>>DEVELOPMENT=OFF
>>EMS=ON
>>ESCAPE=OFF
>>EXCLUSIVE=OFF
>>CENTURY=ON

>>>A client is running an old FoxBASE+ app on new XP Pro PCs (using the runtime MFOXPRUN.EXE). Without any messing around, the app seems to work OK except that when exiting, it gets to the "FoxBASE+ normal shutdown" message, then appears to hang.
>>>
>>>Since this is a PITA I decided to try out the XP Compatibility Wizard. After a few attempts hacking around with various option settings, now the app doesn't work at all, even when compatibility mode is turned completely off in the shortcut's properties.
>>>
>>>Setting up a new shortcut does no good; it also suffers from the same problems. Somewhere XP is storing information on how to run MFOXPRUN.
>>>
>>>So I guess I have two questions:
>>>
>>>- Does anyone know the correct settings (if any are required) to get an MFOXPRUN-based FoxBASE+ app running under XP?
>>>
>>>- Failing that, how can the settings created by the Compatibility Wizard be removed or undone?
>>>
>>>TIA.
