>>>There you go again George....

>>I'll be happy to Jim...just as soon as you admit that your thread about CDX bloat was categorically wrong. Something that despite all the evidence to the contrary you don't want to admit.
>
>George, I hate it when people bring up stuff that has quietened down, but when they are wrong still I simply must answer the crap...
>...The "proof" you demanded was right in the original message of the thread - a CDX created/REINDEXed under VFP6SP5 was reduced in size by the REINDEX while a CDX created/REINDXed under VFP7SP1 remained at the identical size. The two releases yeilding different results, even ignoring the total size gain, is called by me to be a BUG in the absence of documentation in the VFP7SP1 README to the contrary. "All the evidence to the contrary" does not even address the situation that I was reporting!!! Get this: I was NOT reporting on bloat caused by deleted TAGs in any way, shape or form! Got it now??? Simple for all except those who will not see.

So David Frankenbach's explanation on Wiki doesn't matter to you. Christof Lange's explanation there too doesn't matter either. Of course, if you don't bother to read them, you wouldn't know. David (in number 6 and 7) do exactly what you described and it doesn't happen the way you present it. And you have the audacity to still say that this is a bug.

>>No, I won't even if you do.
>>
>>I'm expressing my opinion, and neither you nor anyone else has the right to tell me not to do so. If you don't like it, too bad. I respect others rights to theirs, and, if someone, doesn't respect mine, I have no use them. For all I care, you can take a long hike on a short pier.
>
>Yes, children, George is entitled to his opinion. I think I have the "right" to express mine too. When someone goes around calling people a danger/threat to the community, I take exception, especially having been told the same thing by the same person myself (which I let go then).

>In other words, expressing opinions cuts both ways. Care to join me on that pier walk???

You go first!

Shouting "Bug!" continuously at a time when people are trying to get others to upgrade to 7.0 because it's more stable than its predecessors is counter-productive. I liken it to shouting "Fire!" in a crowded theatre. You have a right to do by your rights of free speech. If you do, you have all the morality of slug.

>>
>>Finally, from the code posted there is no evidence of a bug. I just don't appreciate people shouting at me. I don't shout at others and anyone who cares to shout at me can expect a blunt and less than tactful response.
>
>Boy, I really thought that, being in the year 2002 now, this idea that capitalization=SHOUTING had gone by the proverbial board. I believe that it has, too, except when someone is looking for additional excuses to be less than polite.
>I get the result he claims. He believes it IS a bug. I don't know, tending to leave RESOURCE alone in my code. You KNOW. Then, by all means, educate us all and tell us why it is not a bug.

You can believe in the goddess Kali for all I care. When what you believe is contradicted by the evidence, and you've expressed it in public, then you also need to stand up and say, "Whoops, sorry gang. I was wrong." I'll do so when, and if, I get code that can reproduce the thing. I also apologize for my tone to Andrus, if he tells me that it wasn't his intention. As a man, I do this sort of thing, then again...

Now if it is a bug (which I'm still willing to admit if I can replicate it), it's not even on the board in terms of importance. IOW, if it's not zero, it's pretty close.

>>EOS!

>Ouch! My poor ears! SHOUTING!!! I can't take this! Where's that pier????

There's a difference between an TLA and all caps in a sentence. Of course, I realize you're trying to be funny here. I'll be happy, however, to locate a short pier for you if need be.
George
