I was going to move all of my project to VFP3 until I found out that M$ is
not supporting either MAC or Windows versions today.
In the meantime, a LOT of people told me that VFP3/MAC is buggy. I bought a
copy, loaded it up, wrote a simple app, and type 1 and type 11 errors all
over the place. Transported the thing back to VFP Windows..... no
problem..... so, I guess it's not the code. Did basically the same thing in
FPM2.6, no problem.
Get this...... FPW2.6 has problems with limited work arounds. The question
I posed to Mr. Green of MS (Product Manager for FP) was, if a new processor
happens and there is no workaround, will MS do anything.
The answer was NO money into old products (that Bureaucratese for NOPE,
SORRY, you don't think like we do so you're S.O.L)(the ol is outta luck).
Mr. Green is a nice guy, just towing the corp. line.
So, your stand alone user with a Macintosh IIcx needs the following to run
your app (according to M$).... a network card, a machine running NT Server,
your application and a web browser. What's that..... the cost of your app
plus, say, 5 grand.
I like FP, and the investment that I have made in it has panned out well. I
would like to continue (HELLO BORLAND).
Enough whining on my part (but, if you're not part of the solution, you're
part of the problem)
