I see.
I don't see how you can do what you are trying to do. I think you can remove the preview window from the form and leave the printer button there. In my form, I don't use a preview window and Crystal automatically makes one and shows it on top of my VFP form after I pick my printer. Then I pick the printer icon in the Crystal preview window to send the report to the preselected printer (selected in my VFP form). Maybe if you got rid of the preview window from you VFP form and just let Crystal automatically make you a preview window that would solve your problem.
If you don't see a Crystal preview window after you pick your printer and run the Crystal report from VFP it means that either there is no data in the report or if you are using ODBC, the ODBC Admin points to the wrong drive path.
