thanks for the reply. The problem I am having is after I have turned on the edit as you suggested. I can click on a column and the propery window changes to that column but the mouse does not work on the headings. I can do what I need to using the properites window but I am concerned that the grid is corrupted and could cause problems for my users at some later time.
