Hi Jerry,

I created a real simple table named table1. The table has three fields. The first field is a primary key field, the second field is a first name, and the third field is a last name. The primary key field was set up using serial(4), so it has a sequence for auto incrementing and it is defined as no nulls, so that a value must be supplied for it. Field two and three can be submitted without an entry.

I can insert records only when I supply the primary key. If I leave the primary key blank, a record is added with a zero primary key. The next record result in an error when I execute the insert, unless I supply a primary key. Some other problems with DBVisualizer are:

1. When entering data in the insert from, there is no way to advance to the next field except using the mouse.

2. There is no way to drop individual object. You can only drop the entire database.

3 I'm having trouble locating where a new table can be created with fields, etc. This may not yet be implemented in DbVisualizer.

4. There are a number of tabs which indicate functionality, but clicking on the tabs result in a message that the functionality is not yet up or a blank screen appears with no way to access the functionality, if it exists.

5. There is a tab for privileges but nothing happen when I click on it and I have not discovered how to access the programs that allows me to add new users and assign privileges, nor does DbVisualizer display anything about the users I already have entered.

Generally, I like the look and feel of the program, and it does have a lot of cool stuff, but the program does not appear to be complete, and has not been much help to me in working with postgres. I may play with DdVisualizer some more when time allows, but right now I'm not planning on spending anymore time with it.
