I should ask what distro you are running and what is the version level of KDE.
If you tried to reinstall msequera and it won't allow KDE to come up, but any other new user brings up KDE just fine, then I's suspect a secondary config file at /opt/kde2/config (assuming your are running KDE2) that is being referenced. Just a suspecion??
