Thanks for your response. As I said in original posting it works 98+% of the time. The code was paritially written by some one who is nolonger available for questioning.

I checked the data enivorment of the calling form and it is inconsistent, some tables have buffermodeoverride set to 5, one has it set to 3. The one that seems to fail is set to 5.

For the form buffermode is set to 2.
