How sad we celebrate the non-productive and punish the productive. What you dexcribe is a microcosm of what is wrong with our society in general and it starts with class-envy. While we should be aspiring to emulate [if not be] the successful, the envious constantly denigrate and demonize those who have achieved. However, if the "soul" of the successful company or individual is "rotten", it does not take long until it crumbles from within. The Dallas Cowboys of the mid-90s are an example because their fall was accelerated by the bad actions of some individuals and lack of institutional control [which has since been corrected]. The USSR also declared the USA would fall without them having to fire a shot. We, in fact, saw that just the opposite was true.

>I am a fourth generation San Franciscan, with a family member arriving in Yerba Buena before it was renamed. San Francisco has never been a good place for military personal. When visiting home I was advised to wear civilian clothes to prevent problems. I know of no monuments, which include names of those that gave their lives for their country. There was an auditorium named Veterans Memorial near the Opera House. It was removed, rebuilt and renamed a few years ago. Veterans cannot get a permit to parade on Veterans Day so they parade in near by cities. Gay Pride day is celebrated and there is an annual parade for that purpose.

>Yesterday it was announced that a monument was dedicated at San Francisco Civic Center, which includes the names of the 1900 homeless persons who have died in San Francisco since 1975.

>San Francisco is “the city that forgot how”. It seems to have a unique set of values of its own which it is well known for. Somehow this just bothers me but then that is my problem.

>Would you believe six generation of my family have lived in San Francisco and served in the United States Military, since before the Civil War? A bit of recognition of all veterans would be nice.
