Thanks for your suggestions. I have also discovered that the West Wind Internet Protocols toolkit (wwIPStuff.zip) contains some methods to simply the use of RAS.

The RAS function calls seem to be straightforward enough. The difficult thing will be to put the right functionality into the design.
