Hi Melvin,

I feel like you will probably need to recreated all your databases and tables, and then you will need to enter your data again, but I'm not sure. The postgres web site has a number of mailing list that you can join. You might consider joining one or more of the mailing lists, then you could present your question to the postgres group.

Also, the postgres doc explain what you need to do when updating to a new version of postgres and how to do a backup, which is basically what Jerry told you about doing a dumpall to an output file, etc. You might take a look at it so you can see what needs to be done if you ever again need to do a clean install of your linux system.
