Yes you can use CR found on the VB5 CDs into VB6 because it is exactly the same version that comes with both version. See http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q193336

You won't be able to bind a recordset returned by the DataEnvironment with a report of CR because the CR version you have was built before ADO was existing.
