Nerissa,
>After my form loads, in page 1, my records (view 2) are displayed on the grid starting from products with a category of 1 and so on. I click page 2 and see the first record (view 1) in my combobox. I click the combobox and choose the second category or category 2. If I click back to page 1 to see my grid, I am expecting to see only the records belonging to category 2.
Does page 2 also contain controls that are bound to the primary business object's view? If this is the case, when you select a new category in the combo box on page 2, then do you also want to automatically edit the first record of the newly selected category? This could be a little unusual for the end user.
Have you thought about moving the combo box to page 1?
