Roman,
You know a long time ago I was working on DOS machines and the idea of multiuser was relatively new to microcomputers. Most programmers said they did not bother with multiuser stuff because it was expensive and most users didn't want it. I and many of my colleagues made our applicatiopns multiuser anyway even though the users weren't on a network. When the time came that the networks came down in proice our systems were ready to go while everyone else was trying to figure out how to make a multiuser system.
Your point above has nothing to do with writing your code so it will scale when it needs to. You can write apps today that will require complete rewrites when the users move to client server system, or you can write your apps today so they are easily adapted to C-S systems later on. The choice is yours.
