have you tried Jawa or Adobe PDF writer with settings optimized for screen display ?
I my test Jaws PDF with setings for Web display creates a 3 times smaller files that ghostscript.

I need to send a PDF files from REPORT commands to user browser so the size of PDF file is very important to me.



>I've had the same experience - PDFs created by ghostscript are considerably smaller than those created using distiller, and they're created a bit faster, too. I'm still using gs 5.5 - rock solid and fast, so I haven't bothered upgrading to 7.5. Dunno about later versions.
