>Anyone know of an utility to convert FRX files to Crystal Reports or Vise-versa?

I am writing a utility to do just this using CR RDC. The problem is that CR is specific about what type of object is placed on the form, FoxPro is not.

In CR you have to specify if an object is a text, calculated, summary, etc., etc. field. A generic converter would have to determine the type of object in FoxPro but there is no information to do that in the .frx.

One possible work-around is to put information in the comment area on each object. With a complex report this could take a lot of time.

In a controlled environment where the different types of objects are known in advance or follow a standard naming convention the conversion is easy but this doesn't apply to most (any?) of the legacy reports I have to deal with!

I am working with another VFP developer on an application that generates new reports in a controlled environment and then converts them to a CR report. I have all the code worked out for most standard reports. The RDC still has some limitations including creating groups on a calculated field (see Message ID: 643661)
