What I did was set up two forms: a client form and a server form.

Both have timer controls which simply scans a messages table for any requests (on the server side) and waits for a reply (on the client side).

Upon getting a request, the server app simply processes the request and updates the messages table that the request was served. At least, the server does the processing on the residing PC.

Do you think this would be faster than file sharing?
