Since Adobe's EULA prevents you from using Acrobat as a server - standalone, or web server, I found, like you, that I had to find another solution to create PDF files.
First for Fox reports, I created this utility, which does the trick for me.

But how to convert scanner files to pdfs - Well that depends on what type of files that your scanner puts out. the scanners I have worked with output to tiff files,
There are utilitys out there which convert from tiff to pdf do a search on google for tiff2pdf or tif2pdf. They basically work from the command line, converting entire directories of tiff files to pdf files. (quite quickly I might add.)

Hope something here helps.

>I'm looking into AmyUni for use with a LAN application that has over 100 VFP reports and some pre-scanned images. Users want to select an assortment of reports and a couple of images, sort them, and fax, print or email the resulting multi-page document. Does this sound feasible with AmyUni? If so, what is the speed of report file generation like? Ideally, the solution shouldn't take much longer than it does to print on the network printer now.

In the beginning, there was a command prompt, and all was well.
