Hi Mike,

Hope you had a good Memorial Day. I did. Basically did nothing for the first time in a long time. Took my wife out to a nice dinner and thena walk on a very balmy evening. Nice day. <s>

>>Rules are, by definition, restrictions adn limitations placed upon something by an outside source and they also presume that that outsode source (God) has the power to enforce those "rules" - what we call, for example the Laws of Thermodynamics; One set of rules we've observed.

>I may not completely understand all of the universe, but I've got a couple edges up on you.

I wouldn't be surprised but us old guys almost always have a few aces up our sleeves. <g>

>Interesting that you bring up thermodynamics in particular. Ever violated the second law of thermal dynamics?

You mean in terms of sometthing going from more order to less in a closed system? Sure. My body has less energy than before. <g>

> I have. Any dynamic system will. Which means any open system will. You are looking at the universe from a closed point of view.

Not really. I happen to think that the universe we live in is, in one sense, a closed system but that God may intervene any time He wishes. Perhaps you could explain what you have in mind with respect to the question: "What is able to exist outside of our system but intervene into it?"

Seems to me that this "Super Force" is just another definition for god, albeit in this case I'd think in your mind an impersonal god.

>Go get the brand new (and hot selling) book by Stephen Wolfram caleld "A new kind of science". He takes cellular automata and runs with it, posing new ideas for randomness, free will, evolution, and the universe in general. Should be interesting.

Haven't heard of it.

>
>We should both read this book, come back, and discuss. Anyone else hear of the book?

Perhaps. You should read Colossians. In it (1:17) Paul states "And he is before all things, and by him all things consist" by which we believe that Paul is saying that Jesus (God) is holding all things together. IOW, that mysterious force ("atomic glue" according to some scientists) is nothing more than God holding all atoms together by His omnipotent strength. You know what happens when you 'break' that so-called 'glue'. Boom! Atomic bomb. There's a LOT of force holding each atom together and no one can explain it - except the Bible. <s>

Here's a link to that verse (plus Greek) if you're interested: http://www.blueletterbible.org/tmp_dir/c/1022564102.html#17
Best,
