"SET DATE is scoped to the current data session"." That means that if you have private datasessions, you have to issue SET DATE in each form.
See also: SET SYSFORMATS (also scoped to the current data session).
You can also change property DateFormat for an individual textbox, but I wouldn't recommend that.
