The Straight Dope had a story about the supposed illegality of income tax based on Ohio not being a proper state. I can't get to
www.straightdope.com through my firewall here but Cecil Adams basically said, a few years ago, that the process of admitting states back in the early 19th century wasn't all that formal, and that there was nothing very exceptional about Ohio's statehood. I don't remember anything about a re-do.
