Managing and recovering from data collisions is strictly a Network Administration issue. When developing network or multiuser applications, it is absolutely NO concern of the developer how packets of data are handled by the network, regardless of what type of network you're using. If you are losing data or experiencing application problems due to data collisions, then your network administrators should either be tap dancing like mad to fix it, or packing their bags and cleaning out their desks.
