IMO, there are three issues here.

1) Please do not comingle christianity and the Catholic church. I can be a Christian and not be a Catholic.

2) You must interpret the verses you quoted for "the rock" to be Peter. There are other interpretations.

3) You bring up a good point about Protestants. Looking at the history, I have to wonder how the Protestants could have the power of God (ie. the Priesthood) if they originally protested because they felt the Catholic church no longer had it.
