You're not missing much....

The reason I didn't want to use APPEND FROM is I am trying to make a generic RemoteView-to-XML converter. I am creating an ODBC DSNless connection string on the fly, creating the view SQL on the fly, performing the SQL, and then doing CursorToXML().

If I have to use APPEND FROM, then I must create a whole different structure to handle those types of files. But if I can get a good methodology for using ODBC on the text file, then I can keep on working the same way.
