The quirky behavior of the Windows Installer Service has been a real problem for me. When I send a CD to a customer, I want the install to be a "slam dunk". I do not want the end user to see a bunch of meaningless error messages. I want them to see only the message "Install Complete!". To this end I have gone back to a script based installer.
