Craig,

>>>The LDS belief makes it easy. God the Father, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost are three separate beings with one purpose.

>Many Bible scholars say a better translation of the Hebrew texts that are the basis for Gensis is:
>"The Gods organized the heavens and the earth." Doesn't sound monotheistic to me.

The Hebrew word we might spell 'elohym' or 'elohim' is what can be called a compound unity. El is the singular, ela (ella?) is the plural (dual) and elohim would be this next 'step'. However there are many ferocious discussion on this (Google: "elohim compound unity") so one should read up! <g>

I think that the problem here is often that man wants to change things so he can understand it rather than just reading and studying the scriptures as they are.

In Isiah 45:5 he says "I [am] the LORD, and [there is] none else, [there is] no God beside me: I girded thee, though thou hast not known me:", which is interesting to me.

Candidly, after some thirty years I have yet to find an adequate explanation of the trinity. The Bible teaches it but it's not something I think that we can fully understand with our puny minds. <s>
Best,

A man is no fool who gives up that which he cannot keep for that which he cannot lose.
Everything I don't understand must be easy!
The difficulty of any task is measured by the capacity of the agent performing the work.
