As far as stability and performance I do not think these are issues. I have dbc's that are very large. Many are over 1 gig. Follow Nick's advice. Also, do you use reindex within your application? This can cause another type of bloat.

Now if this was an Access "database", I would not be suprised at a 1.5 mb file increasing to 14 mb after one day of data entry. :)
