We could use a little more information first.

Sizes of tables
Frequency of updates
Estimated growth rates
Any specific security requirements
Current relaibility issues

Also, keep in mind that VFP can work nicely with other database products on the market through remote views. That way you get the benefits of VFP and any additional benefits provided by the selected database product.
