Tom's list is fabulous - but VFP is a great RAD tool. I've found that a small team of delevopers can do in weeks what it takes others to do in months using those other development tools.

I use WebConnect with VFP7, and find that I can develop web apps at a blinding pace.

Go to a SQL (MS, Oracle, MySQL, whatever) back-end if you have an app that requires it - VFP handles it quite nicely. There's lots of advice around discussing when to choose SQL and when to stick with VFP tables (I especially like Rick Strahl's white paper on building large-scale web applications:
