7.0 has some features that are implemented in 6.5. For instance, LEN() was added to 6.5 in a service pack. TOP is not support by 6.5.

SQL Server 7.0 support a database compatibility option. Set it to 6.5 and see what happens on the 7.0 box when you run the scripts.
