Are you using VFP7 or a version earlier? If you are using VFP7 then I would recommend using the OLEDB provider instead of ODBC.

You can set your connection on the fly instead of setting up your connections ahead of time on each machine. You would use the SQLSTRINGCONNECT function to set it.
