Why not make another field in your table like lSpooled, then prior to printing the checks this field (lSpooled) will set to .T. then after the printing of the check is completed then the field lPrinted will then set to .T.

So, if the lSpooled is .T. and the field lPrinted is .F. you know that the printing of the check is not completed.
