I can't recommend any third party stuff because I just haven't used any. However, if I was in need of a spell checker, I would use the one in Word. I haven't done that myself, but I am pretty certain you can drive Word's spellchecker using automation. I think it is simply a matter of selecting the text you want to check (from whatever is your source application) and feed it into Word's spell checking object. Whilst not all users will have Word, most probably will so that would be my suggestion at this stage.
