Hi Jerry,
I play around with the Linux BIOS and finally got both network cards working. One of the cards I have set up going out into the internet/WAN. It has a base address of 68.15.242.xxx. I can now access the internet from my linux computer as I am doing now. Also, I can access my web site by connecting to netzero and coming into it remotely with the address their DHCP services provide. My web site is currently a mess, but it look worse than it is. I will have to change all links to web pages that have
http://www.smvfp.com/index.shtml, for example to
https://www.smvfp.com/index.shtml. In other words everwhere I find http in my web site I will need to change it to https. There will be a ton of that.
My local network has a base address of 192.168.1.XXX, so the second card I configured with a local network address of 192.168.1.78. When I reset everything I had access to my local network from the second NIC. Also samba showed up in network neighborhood, so I could share file systems within the local network which includes the linux computer. There is still one issue I will have to resolve.
There is no way for anyone within the local network with a base address of 192.168.1 to access the WAN gateway with an IP address of 68.15.242.65 to gain access to the internet. Presently only the linux computer can do that. I think what I will need to do is purchase another Linksys 4 port router for around $70.00 , and have it connect to the two network together like so:
router1 192.168.1.1 <---------------------> 68.15.242.1 router2
Give my web site a try. I would like to know if everyone from outside the local network can again access it.
