Hoi peter,

Hoe-is-'t ?

>>We may do something innocent concerning our business approach – such as use of a logo and end up being sued. Not a position anyone wishes to engage in that I know.

>You scare the hell out of me... :) The point I'm making is that I don't want to hear such words from you and other good people. If it's true that we should be careful in this matter, then we should hear it from MS. Thanks for the warning, but I'm not sure whether I should believe you. MS should tell us. And even then there's always the possibility of a call to our own attorneys. And things can be different in different countries.

I suspect we as dutch, we know it does not work this way in Holland. It think there is a major difference between legal and not legal in america and Europe. I can't imagine that I'm going to be sued for using a VFP logo in a VFP application without any warning and/or request from MS to remove it from the application.

I suspect here in holland we live more by the spirit of the rules rather than the written rules itself. As what I know from justice in the US it is very different from ours and the chance of beeing sued in the US (the county where some people make a living out of sueing everybody to claim millions of smart money) is much greater than in any european country.

From some of the messages I read about legal questions, I got the picture that every software developer has to get a lawyer. Personally, I've never been in a situation that I ever needed a lawyer and don't see I will need one in the near future. Heck, I don't even know where to go to get a lawyer. I use the rule: "If it ain't crystal clear that something is not legal, I feel safe to use it". Justice will protect me whenever I'll get sued by some company who thinks that they can sue me with unclear licence policies or without any correspondence with me. I suspect that Justice here in holland is much different than in the US in this respect.

Walter,
