Back in FPD2.6 I was using Read ... Timeout, and I was setting it to 20 minutes for input screens, and 15 minutes for dialogues, searchlists, print previews and pretty much anything else.

One thing was of concern - what to do with unfinished edits and dirty buffers. The decision (company level) was to discard them. If the user didn't do anything about it within 20 minutes, chances are he won't remember what he was doing and would have to redo the whole record anyway.
