>>Well any file type can be sent in and out via a WebService, I'm finishing a Web Service that does this. It works very similar to a FTP Server & client.

>Yes - but aren't you simply expanding it to a text stream - or are there more sophisticated ways of packaging a file for travel over http? I'd like to learn more...
Is expanded as a text stream, but is not so simply, cause this also performs authentification, data is zipped, CREATEBINARY, ... in both sides. The data is sent in chuncks, it has a progressbar, ... We have a limit (100Kb) for the lenght of the XML messages, but avoidable touching a registry key in the server side.
You have more ways Winsock is another way.
>Is it faster than FTP? Slower?
Hum ... slower, but I don't care too much I get not bad times at all, cause I need to open my server for webservices I don't want to open there a FTP server (another security hole), so that's why I used a WebService.
Also transmission over HTTP must be as short as posible.
