I'm troubleshooting some VFP 6 programs, on NT4 workstations with IE5.0.

There's one component (a separate exe) at satellite offices which runs at midnight, zips up data files and automatically ftps them to the main office. This is a form of backup, but also the main office does some summary reporting from this data.

After AutoDialing a dial-up connection, the exe uses InternetOpen, InternetConnect, and various FTP commands, in WinInet.dll (declared in the init of a custom ftp class) to make a connection to the main office's ftp server and upload the files.

The declarations seem straightforward, but if the satellite location upgrades from IE5.0 to any later version, the FTP connection no longer ever connects. The dial-up appears to connect to the ISP, but then InternetConnect returns errors attempting to connect to the FTP site. I've double-checked that the DNS address in the dial-up connection remains correct.

Do the number and/or type of parameters in InternetConnect (where the problem appears to be) change from one WinInet version to the next?

Any ideas will be appreciated!
