Hi John,

You might want to address "warehouses" when it comes to inventory. Make them UNRELATED to the store locations, but assign each store a "preferred warehouse" from where to take the item that is sold.

Example:
StoreA. PrefWarehouse=1
StoreB. PrefWarehouse=2
StoreC. PrefWarehouse=3

If you sell the TV at storeA, the software will look for the item in the preferred warehouse. If it doesn't have it there, the user is presented with choices on where to get the TV from.

This design will allow you to have a Main Warehouse that's located elsewhere and also allow you to transfer items from one store to another while keeping track of these transfer transactions as well as inventory up at the company level and down at the store level.

This is how I handled an inventory app that I created about 10 years ago and has been working perfectly. (They have service trucks with a stockpile of commonly used parts for their Air Conditioning repairs and this way we can tell when a truck needs to get more of a particular item while they're at the office as opposed to needing something when they're in the field.)

Hope this helps!

Alex
