Do you have the book "1001 Things You Wanted to Know About Visual FoxPro"? If not you should get it, because it will answer this and a lot of other questions for you. Essentially, Marcia describes a technique that's close to what I've used. You need a view that has both the foreign key you want to store, and the description you want displayed. You specify the description field as the controlsource for the column, and in the combo's valid, replace the foreign key in the correct field in the view.
