The fact that you know VFP, and don't know Oracle, should be argument enough - plus the fact that there is virtually nothing you can't do in Visual FoxPro.
Limitations in Visual FoxPro include:
The limit of 2 GB per file - may or may not be a problem.
No encryption available - can be solved with third-party tools.
Oracle allows you to modify the structure of a table (e.g., add fields) while users are using the table, and a few other neat tricks.
If you need some of these Oracle features, that is no reason to discard Visual FoxPRo. You can use Oracle as the server - you can still access the data through forms created in Visual FoxPro.
