Hi Jerry,

I ran an update install from the RH 7.3 distribution and it put lilo back as my Linux Loader. Also, I recompiled the kernel using xconfig. There were only two check boxes having to do with SSL. The help boxes for these two selections were empty, so based on the names of the check box, I think one had to do with crypto SSL hardware acceleration, probably something to speed up encrption over NICs that have the encryption built into the card. The other was the same, except It appeared to relate to the software. I made sure these two box were not check. The kernel compiled without error and came up normally when I rebooted the system, but there was no change of openSSL behavior. Anyway, I now am running a customized kernel that is probably smaller than the one that come with the distribution. Also, I was able to select some functionality in the console section that should improve my nVidia video card performance. It's listed as experimental, but it has performed without error so far.

I am able to connect to my postgres database with the postgres ODBC driver and a VFP7 client, both locally and remotely. However, pgAdmin II will not connect remotely since the updates. I will have to fall back to using the phppgadmin browser based interface to do my postgres database administration.
