Anonymous is just that - an unspecified user who inherits the Guest privileges (or the IUSR_
machinename or IWAM_
machinename depending on circumstance) without requiring further authentication.
Identify allows you to specify a userid and password to use for the connection in all cases, thus inheriting that userid's permissions and privileges.
