Status Report – June 7, 2002

Howdy everyone, sorry I missed last week and that this one was late. Turns out the reason I was exhausted (which I mentioned in my last report) was that I was coming down with a bad case of the flu or something similar. I was out for a coupl’a days – but the doctor gives me a clean bill of health now. <s>

Someone sent me a message saying that they like the walkthroughs on MSDN (see below where I point to some), but would like more, or improved ones. So, I figured I’d ask the same question of you – what walkthroughs would you be interested in?

The highlights for the week:

1. Coding continues on the new VB community website on GotDotNet. I was supposed to get and install an early build internally this week, but due to the flu cancelled the meeting. Rescheduled it for this weekend (gotta catch up), so I should know more next week. Current target is still mid-June. The basic idea is to have a great place to announce what’s available on all sites – not just on GotDotNet.

2. Lots of work on getting people online and more user group support. A number of folks went to the local User Group on Wednesday and then out to dinner with some of the members. Lots of great feedback there.

3. Work on the next version of VB .NET

4. Work on rolling out community awareness and feedback to the worldwide subs. Working with many others on a plan now so that we can do it properly.

5. Continuing planning for the next set of chats – if you have any topics you’d like covered, let me know!

Walkthrough: Displaying Data in a Windows Form Using a Parameterized Query
A common scenario is to display only selected data on a form — for example, the orders for a specified customer, or the books for a specific author. This scenario walks through parameterizing a query and displaying it on a Windows Form.
