>>I bought a Sony laptop with XP Professional. I have a Smart and Friendly SCSI CD-R 8020. When I inserted my Adaptec PC SCSI card, it recognized the drive and Explorer wrote to it fine. The Laptop had a screen problem and I just recieved its replacement. Now with the new laptop, XP reconizes the drive as writeable, but will not write to the drive. The write light will blink 2 to 3 times and then after a few seconds I get the error message "Cannot Complete CD Writing Wizard." I have tried all speeds from 8x to 1x and get the same message. I attached the CD-R to my desktop and it works fine.

I apologize for the delay in responding. Yes, I did and it still did not work. I then spent about four hours (56k connection) applying all MS critical fixes and voila! it worked. I do not know which fix in conjunction the CD buring fix caused it to work.

Thanks for your help and again I apologize for the delay.

Thanks!
