I think mskb #Q303761 ACC2000: A "SQL Statement Too Long" Error Message Appears When You Try to Update a FoxPro 6.0 Table explains why it happens. I don't know how fix it in your case. However, if you've VFP7 you can use VFP OLEDB provider.
