>Hmmmm...no...I don't recall ever hearing about it, but I just looked it up ("Zodiacal light" seems to be correct). no, I've never seen it (that I KNOW of).

Zodiacal light is the light reflected on particles in the solar system. Since the particles are concentrated along the Ecliptic (Zodiac), you have the concentration mentioned (the pyramid form), and the name is due to this fact.

With a clear and dark sky, it is likely you have seen it several times, and confused it with the normal light of dawn. If you see a pyramid of light, and it is inclined to one side, then you are seeing the Zodiacal light, and NOT only the normal dawn.

>I see you live in Cochabamba, Bolivia. There was an intersting article in a recent New Yorker magazine about the privatization of water in Bolivia, and Cochabamba, in particular. Sounds like big problems there. Have you had trouble w/water supply/prices/availability?

Big trouble, indeed. With the disturbance related to the "water wars", several people (ca. 10?) died, last year.

All Cochabamba protested against the privatization (lots of corruption involved in that, and water prices went up a lot), roads were blocked for weeks (Cochabamba is very centrical in that aspect!); as a result, thousands of people lost their jobs (mainly in Cochabamba).

The problem seems to be solved, for the moment.

==========

Which reminds me...

There was a discussion, amongst three professionals, about which was the oldest profession in the world. The doctor said: "Well, according to the Bible, God created Eve from a rib taken out of Adam - clearly, a chirurgical intervention."

The architect intervened, and said: "Well, OK, but first, God created Heaven and Earth out of Chaos! And that, my friends, is an architectural undertaking."

Finally, the polititian stood up, and asked: "And who, may I ask, created Chaos?"

[Note: It seems to me that the three friends got a little mixed up between the biblical account of creation, and Greek mythology.]
Difference in opinions hath cost many millions of lives: for instance, whether flesh be bread, or bread be flesh; whether whistling be a vice or a virtue; whether it be better to kiss a post, or throw it into the fire... (from Gulliver's Travels)
