UPDATE: I like Jim's suggestion! I would DEFINITELY check that out...
tracy

I make no claims!

I've found more often than not, Foxpro problems on Novell servers are caused by incompatible settings on the client or on the server with respect to locks and purging files. We create and use a lot of temporary files sometimes in Foxpro. Have you tried disabling any antivirus program on the workstation having this problem FIRST???? Especially if using NAV. Sometimes, temporary files get stuck in the quaranteened directories.

As you know, you really need to monitor the server's status before changing these, as these settings are dependent on SO MANY things and can affect SO MANY THINGS (other apps!)!!!! You can TRY these settings as a BAREBONES baseline, but other server processes may require entirely different settings. Don't forget to backup the startup.ncf and autoexec.ncf FIRST and you can always start the server with the the 'a' switch to start without running the autoexec.ncf if something doesn't work. Adjust the record locks as necessary! (Use the correct syntax when setting these of course)

>Tracy,
> I hope you don't mind but I wondered if you could give me your thoughts on an existing problem I have. One customer is complaining of slow performance. They have 15 concurrent users in my management program running on a Dell server with Novell 5. Boss man says he starts editing tickets and as he works through them the program keeps getting slower and slower. If he reboots the speed picks up but as he goes through more tickes it slows down again. My guess is it's not releasing the locks. They have a different company doing the network stuff for them. I talked to him and he said he did set extended file handles on. Any thoughts?
