Thanks for the response. I have figured it out however. Apparently, IE was trying to navigate to the Microsoft web-site the first time it runs, because when I logged in to the server using the same userid as my COM+ service and ran IE, a runonce script ran that automatically takes you to the MS site. After that, the IE OLE object has been working fine.

I will keep your API code in mind however if I decide to go that route.
